2007/2008 Season
ROUND-UP
Another hugely successful season, with the yard in flying form. An outstanding 18 winners, 15 seconds and 15 thirds from less than 26 horses in training at any time. Jim and Tom had horses such as Green Prospect (owned by Mr and Mrs R. Howitt), who had never won a race for another trainer since he left Martin Pipe three years ago. We trained him to win three races from seven runs and he's never been out of the frame.
Another striking horse was Dundridge Native who joined Jim and Tom aged nine and had never won a race. On a mark of 80 she won twice over hurdles and once over fences and finished on a mark of 115. This mare showed an amazing turn around in form and won over £8,500 in prize money.
Also pulling in the prizes in the 2007/08 season was Mr. W. Scott's and Mr. M. Hills' The Wooden Spoon who, having never won a race in his career, scored two out of six races and was placed second twice. At the age of ten, we improved him from a mark of 90 to 120.
Lady Pilot's career over hurdles got off to a promising start, with two wins in competitive races and three third places.
An interesting winner of the season has to be mentioned - Hidden Weapon. This horse had PU, PU, F by his name until having his first run for Jim and Tom at Lingfield, where he won at 50 to 1. His owner, Mr M. Hills, was delighted as he had always been told the horse would never win a race!
