2006/2007 SeasonResults
One impressive feature of last season was winning with horses where other trainers simply couldn't. Jim and Tom have rekindled the form of horses such as Lady Pilot, whose lifetime form was one success from 41 runs, when she scraped home at Wolverhampton. This filly had lost all enthusiasm for racing, but within five weeks of purchasing her for the "Odds on Racing" syndicate, an easy win at Kempton was followed by two consecutive wins at Southwell. Jim and Tom clearly have the ability to win with horses that other trainers cannot win with, or which simply should not be winning.
Blueland, a former inmate of Noel Chance, joined Jim and Tom after tailing off in a race won by 4 lengths by Dance with Wolves (trained by Jim and Tom!). The former consecutive Gold Cup winning trainer had given up on the horse, and consequently advised the owners to do likewise. She was brought to Grandstand Stables and in just three runs Blueland scored for her delighted owners, "The Sporting Divots". Another impressive win was snatched by King Triton, who annihilated the field and romped home at Plumpton by 47 lengths. No mean feat for a horse who had not been on a racecourse for a whopping 419 days, and whose last win was over four years previously! This was the first win in at least ten years for new owners to Grandstand Stables, Mr and Mrs Ray Howitt. We would like to express our sincere condolences to Mr and Mrs Howitt, as sadly King Triton did not make it through colic surgery in September this year. He was a wonderful horse and really will be missed by us all. Records and Statistics

Grandstand Stables Open DayThe Open Day held on the last Sunday in August was a huge success, with over one hundred people attending. They included owners, their friends and families. There was a trip down to the gallops to watch the horses canter up, and then a schooling session over the hurdles. Refreshments were available and there was a bouncy castle for the children. Everyone who came seemed to have a great time seeing the horses, and we hope to do the same again next year. See reports for the 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons.
